Week 1-2: Introduction to Phlebotomy

Unit 3: Equipment and Procedures Phlebotomy equipment handling and usage Order of draw and color-coded tube explanation Proper identification and preparation of patients Venipuncture technique 

Unit 4: Special Considerations in Phlebotomy Pediatric and geriatric phlebotomy techniques Difficult draws and special situations Capillary puncture techniques Handling of special samples Special consideration for specimens, instructing patients about collecting nonblood specimens Preparing peripheral blood smear blood culture collection Calculating volume requirements to avoid Iatrogenic anemia 

Week 5-6: Clinical Practice and Quality Control

Unit 5: Quality and Safety in Phlebotomy Infection control and prevention practices Quality assurance in phlebotomy Error prevention and management in specimen collection Patient rights and confidentiality Regulations regarding workplace safety, operational standards, HIPAA regulations, and PHI

Week 7-8: Real-World Application and Professional Development
